stuff and vintagefest and vintage lighters
i forced myself out of the house today because i
A] wanted sweet mary's
B] wanted to check out the vintagefest
thankfully, it was sunny, despite being cold, so it wasn't too bad. i grabbed the bus downtown and remembered i couldn't cut thru the library b/c it's sunday and they don't open until 1pm. so i walked around the block to go to sweet mary's (recently featured on ~libs of tiktok~ b/c of their 'fuck ice' cookies) and got a uhhhh brown sugar cinnamon latte iirc?? it was alright - actual coffee-coffee flavor isn't my favorite, but oftentimes once it cools down it's quite nice to drink. i also had a flapjack coffeecake and an orange-chocolate macaron to eat while i waited for noon for the vintagefest across the street to open. i eavesdropped on the girls next to me talking about movies and the like

my goal for vintagefest was to maybe find a fun, work-ok 80's/90's sweater that was under $30. a secondary goal was to see if i could find any old world of darkness (vtm, wta) tees, which would either be wildly out of my price range, or dirt cheap b/c someone didn't know what they had lol. i found none of the latter and i saw a couple cute sweaters, but nothing that said 'you can't leave me behind'
what i DID end up coming home with, however, was some vintage lighters!!

and also a cute little necklace lol. i spotted the cross stitched one in a box for $5 and was like 'well that's perfectly acceptable'. it SHOULD'VE worked, but when they filled it and tested it, it wouldn't ignite, so the guy sold it to me for $2, which was fine by me b/c i was mainly buying it for the design. i browsed around their table a little more (it was a dad and his daughter) and they had a box or two of non-working lighters he said were primarily butane and might work, but it's not what he likes to work with so he sometimes just grabs cool looking ones. i spotted two i thought were neat, but passed on them for the time being
wandered around the whole show, got a lot of psychic damage from how many articles of clothing were just.....from when i was in high school , but didn't really find anything i HAD to have. did spot a cute star necklace for $5. also saw a REALLY cool chatelaine piece (a little sword that might've been a letter opener or something of the sort, but didn't come out of its sheath anymore) that the seller was hyped i even knew what it was - but WAY out of my budget lol

Champ-ette Lighter - 1950's, zippo-style
this one doesn't want to spark but got refilled, so i may dig around and see if there's anything else if can do to get it to work. it seemed like it probably DID work, since the seller had it with the working lighters, but maybe refilling it futzed something up
Colibri Electro-Quartz Lighter - 1980's(?), butane
this one wasn't expected to work, but it did! at least, until the last of the fuel ran out lol. but it does spark and did light, so i'll have to get some butane for it and refill it. it's cute and small, and the cap slides smoothly
More Slim Stick Lighter - probably 70's/80's?, butane
the cap doesn't want to slide back on this one to expose the flint and i don't want to force it and break it
Lilly Lighter - 80's/90's, butane, unbranded
this one's spark wheel on the side doesn't turn. idk if i want to crack it open and try to fix it or not
i also spent yesterday replacing the brake pads on my bike and it's always more than a little frustrating to do so. the front ones don't align QUITE right to the rotor, so it takes a lot of fiddling with the weird cup/cone washers to get things correct and i still don't like how 'loose' the braking feels compared to how i have the back brakes. i think maybe, in the spring or something, i'll see about replacing the brake lines or removing them and seeing if there's any issues b/c they feel too, idk, soft/loose
i really like the caliper style brakes on my manual bike as opposed to the mechanical brakes on my ebike, but i kinda just have to learn to deal with it i guess lol. it'd be nice, at least, to have a set of brakes that's easier to adjust/remove/replace, though, as the ones i have now, i have to completely remove the back brake to adjust the one side of the brakepad and that's annoying as hell
ANYHOW, it's 1:30am and i should be getting to bed, plus i took some melatonin to see if that even helps to get me to sleep w/o making me want to sleep all day lol. thankfully, i work at noon tomorrow
