i was super busy this weekend z_x
friday i worked with andrew and finished up two apartments. nothing deeply intensive, but a lot of migrating things around and going back and forth between buildings. andrew hung out at the house for a hot minute when he dropped me off b/c he wanted tony to try some sambuca
kibby time
saturday i was awake early and my mom messaged me asking if i worked and, if not, would i want to go swimming. to which, yeah absolutely lol. i ended up getting up not long after, shaving my legs lol, and heading out to angel falls to work on some art and get something to eat, since my mom wasn't going to be out thee until after 1pm
we ended up going out to turkeyfoot beach in portage lakes state park. anything closer didn't have great ratings and anything we were more familiar with was heading back towards ravenna/warren. and anything else really nice was up on lake erie. but turkeyfoot was nice! small beach, but folks were pretty spread out. the water wasn't muddy/dirty, just sandy and with some seaweed. we did watch a guy get pulled out of the water and had to be ambulanced out - he was responsive, but it seems like maybe he went under and swallowed some water wrong or something
ended up taking a 5mg gummy (thought they were 10mg, but after looking for the exact kind they were a lesser dosage) and, like, 45mins later i'm telling my mom 'i don't feel shit' and she hands me another. we hang out, get in the water a bit, eat some sandwiches and bullshit, then eventually pack up and head out. on the way back up, we stopped at pav's for ice cream (and ended up with more than we planned b/c the girl taking the orders was confused and didn't clarify - ended up trying the bourbon cherry cheescake kustard, chocolate almond, lemon sorbet, and biscoff cookie). as we're hanging out eating ice cream, my mom's friend cathy was like 'oh, there it is' and almost immediately the three of use felt the gummy from earlier hit dlfkghdlkfg
we took a little walk around the parking lot and then decided to go up and see the herons. it's a little late in the season to see them well. they nest in the early spring/around april and once the trees fill in with leaves, they're pretty well hidden. but we spotted a couple and saw a few flying in, so it was nice regardless
stopped at arby's and grabbed some food for tony. went home, changed, made sure i didn't leave anything in the car, then my mom dropped me off over andrew's b/c he was gonna bonfire and we were gonna burn shit (chris and sam were out of town for sam's birthday over the weekend or we would've bullied them to join us). hung out there for the evening, burning shit and setting off bottle rockets and playing with ivan (andrew's dog). got euro gyro and bullshat for awhile. eventually, chucked ourselves in the truck and he dropped me off at home and i slam dunked myself into bed
sunday was pathfinder, but i woke up/slept/woke up earlier in the morning. i was exhausted lol. after pathfinder i dug one of the ac units out of the porch and got it set up in the living room b/c it's supposed to be in the 90's all this week, with real feel over 100F. can't get away with going 'well, it's gonna cool off tomorrow' anymore lol
now, it's monday and i'm back at work. it did storm a bit earlier, a good amount of rain and wind. i'm closing tonight and we have a juneteenth program that will hopefully be well attended. it's been pretty quiet since the neighborhood kids departed earlier before the storm, at least
it's two weeks until anthrocon and i've been doing booty badges to make some spending money for us. they've been a pretty big hit and they have a pretty quick turnaround, as well. faster than my normal booty icons, that's for sure
looking forward to AC even if we're going on a tight budget - it's just gonna be nice to have that time off for a hot minute (i'm off for, like, a week and a half lol). i'll be working all convention, but that's what i've been aiming for anyhow.
going to be taking a bunch of furry zines and my own zines and all kinds of stuff to share and trade around. i also ordered some more of my ohiofurs fursonapins design stickers to give to people at the ohiofurs meet on sunday. i don't have a lot of the pins left, but i'm also bringing a bunch of my personal pins to trade and stuff, so it should be enjoyable regardless i think
but speaking of, i finished up the first issue of the furry zine i was organizing!
i ended up discovering that i could size them down to fit on 8.5x14 and put two on each page, so these smaller versions are gonna be the ones going to anthrocon with me since they're easier to transport and handle, but i'm looking forward to sharing them!
